In 2001 Leather Medic was invited to participate in the restoration of our National Archives building in Washington D.C. this was a 5 year project that would address the interior structure of the building. As a tourist you enter the main viewing Tundra thru 2 very large doors wrapped in leather and trimmed with decorative nail heads. Few know however, that the doors thru out the building, although not on such a grand scale as the Tundra doors, are also covered in leather and nail heads. These doors had not been repaired or restored in over 60 years. The project scale was amazing in it's self. At one point you could go into the basement level and look straight up 5 stories where each floor had been removed. Our direct involvement began as the floors had been reconstructed and the Tundra was in the final construction phase. We brought a team of 10 Leather Medic Technicians from around the country to address the Tundra entry and interior doors in the last days of the preparations for the Grand Opening to be attended by dignitaries from around the country. Our Washington D.C. franchisee from that point over the next couple of years worked to complete the remaining interior doors throughout the building. As our team worked outside on the entry foyer overlooking the National Mall we felt proud and honored to have participated in such an important undertaking.
